Hellsphere / Heliosfera?

Hellsphere: The Game
Originally released on the Amiga 500 in 1996 in Poland as Heliosfera, it is now renamed as Hellsphere for English language audiences.

On July 28, 2025, the higher powers holding the rights to Heliosfera made a historic decision—they returned the game's intellectual property to its original creators. And with that, the world of Heliosfera will be reborn.

But what is this Heliosfera, you ask?

Heliosfera is a unique blend of strategy, role-playing, and arcade action, set in a sprawling sandbox universe. You play as a lone merchant navigating the artificial world of Hellsphere. One man. One ship. One cargo bay.

Buy goods on one asteroid. Sell them on another. Turn a profit, repair and upgrade your vessel, and—if you're bold—try your hand at a bit of smuggling.

But trade routes are far from safe. The space between asteroids teems with danger. Engage in heart-pounding 2D pixel-art combat against dragons, medusas, and the dreaded pirates of Hellsphere.

As your fortune grows and your ship evolves, so too does your reputation. Rise through the ranks of the Merchant Guild and, if you play your cards right, claim the title of Grand Master.

And what's next for this pixelated perfection?

We’re polishing the edges, expanding the universe with new asteroid factions, implementing long-held ideas that never made it in, crafting a larger world map, and adding new mini-games and deeper RPG elements.

The rebirth of Heliosfera is only the beginning.

The Lore of Hellsphere

The universe, estimated to be approximately 13.8 billion years old, has provided ample time for intelligent civilizations to rise, flourish, and vanish - potentially leaving behind enigmatic remnants of their existence. Among the most mysterious of these remnants are the so-called Hellspheres: colossal, planet-sized megastructures discovered in scattered locations across our galaxy. Despite decades of study, these structures remain impervious to both physical entry and remote sensing, rendering their origin, function, and composition largely unknown.

Two key observations, however, have persisted in shaping our understanding. The first, recorded over 2000 years ago (standard Texonican imperial calendar), indicates that Hellspheres appear to be hollow, based on gravitational measurements and celestial body mechanics. The second, more recent, and statistically significant finding suggests an increased rate of unexplained starship disappearances within a half-light-year volume of space around Heliospheres.
